This detailed timber railway bridge is designed for a small creek, drainage channel or low-lying section of a country railway line.
The bridge features substantial longitudinal timber stringers supporting individually modelled cross bearers. A central timber pile bent includes multiple round piles, a heavy cap beam and diagonal bracing, faithfully reproducing the layered construction visible beneath a traditional timber railway bridge.
At each end, detailed timber abutments and stepped retaining walls hold back the surrounding embankments and allow the bridge to blend naturally into the scenery. Timber grain, individual planks, posts, joints and structural bracing give the model plenty of character, particularly when viewed from track level or underneath.
The bridge can be painted as relatively new timber or heavily weathered to represent a structure that has spent many years exposed to trains, water and the Australian climate.
An ideal feature for Australian country railway layouts, rural scenes and historical dioramas.
