This is not a ready-to-run model — it’s a project kit for experienced modellers who enjoy the challenge of bringing something unique to life. Whether you’re after a static display piece or a working version, this kit gives you the foundation.
What’s in the kit
Main body shell
Two chassis
Static bogies (plug in easily for a static display)
Set of laser-cut clear windows (with rebates built in for a neat, professional fit)
Note: decals are not included.
Powered option
For those who want a running model, one chassis has been reverse-engineered to accept the Hornby TT:120 Class 43 HST mechanism.
One chassis is designed to take the powered unit.
The second can use either the unpowered Hornby bogies or the supplied 3D-printed dummies.
The Class 43 mechanism, with its smooth five-pole motor and twin flywheels, makes an excellent donor drive once adapted. With some basic modelling skills — extending drive shafts, fitting the mechanism, and a bit of engineering — you can create a fully powered HOn3.5 scale rail motor. We’ve also tested it successfully with a Next18 DCC decoder.
In summary
Straight out of the box, this kit can be built as a static model. Or, with the right donor parts and a little work, you’ll have a fully powered HOn3.5 scale representation of Queensland Rail’s Class 2000 Rail Motor — something truly unique for your layout.
