Porter’s Quarters – Thulimbah
A distinctive and rarely modelled piece of Queensland railway life, this faithfully recreated porter’s quarters is based on the original structure at Thulimbah, a small station on the Southern line north of Stanthorpe.
These modest but charming timber dwellings were provided for railway staff stationed in outlying towns and often featured a simple layout with practical additions like a corrugated iron water tank, wood stove enclosure, and chimney. Our highly detailed 3D-printed model captures it all — including the exposed framing, roof brackets, tank stand, and wood heater flue — ideal for adding character to a station yard scene or lineside diorama.
The building is printed raised on stumps, as per the prototype, and can be easily adapted to suit flat or uneven terrain by trimming the stump lengths to fit your layout.
A perfect companion to our Applethorpe station model, or any rural QR setting.
The foundations hold the building securely for shipping and are easily removed when you are ready by carefully snipping away from the stumps.
